Conference Speakers

Dr. Graham Simpson is the Vice President of Geosciences at GLJ Ltd. Dr. Simpson joined GLJ in 2012 and has more than 30 years of experience in the energy industry across organizations such as Shell Canada, Compton Petroleum and the University of Calgary. He is responsible for GLJ’s Geosciences department, working on a diverse range of international and domestic energy projects, including oil and gas production, carbon sequestration, geothermal and lithium extraction from brines.

Dr. Simpson’s technical expertise is in evaluations of stratigraphically and structurally complex fields. His specialty in carbon sequestration extends back to his Ph.D. thesis in aqueous geochemistry completed at the University of Calgary in 1999. Over the last five years, he has been heavily involved in carbon sequestration reservoir modelling and evaluation.

Additionally, Dr. Simpson develops and presents courses on a variety of subjects for universities, government agencies and GLJ clients. These subjects include geology and the energy industry for non-geologists; geology in reserves analysis; core interpretation workshops; prospect analysis – risk and uncertainty; integrating geology and engineering in reserves analysis; and advanced geological training.
