Learn moreAndrew is the Geoscience Manager at AGAT Laboratories and the Lab manager of AGAT’s Molecular and Isotope Geochemistry Lab. He has over 20 years experience in stable isotope geochemistry and has worked with a diverse range of stable isotope techniques and applications with a strong focus on analytical systems. He trained as a geologist and geochemist, having received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from McMaster University and his PhD at the University of Saskatchewan in stable isotope geochemistry.
As a Research Associate within the Isotope Science Lab at the University of Calgary, he gained experience in a wide variety of stable isotope techniques related to hydrocarbon fingerprinting and environmental impact assessment. Following this, he worked as a Lab Manager in the Mass Spectrometry Lab at the National Institute for Water and Atmospheric research in Wellington, New Zealand where he focused on stable isotope applications in marine and terrestrial biogeochemistry. Andrew has also worked as an Expert for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Brazil and New Zealand training highly qualified personnel in stable isotope applications. Most recently, working as a Research Scientist at the Geological Survey of Canada in Calgary he investigated subsurface sulfur cycling using a variety of isotopic and geochemical techniques to understand the processes responsible for H2S formation and distribution in the Montney Formation.
Throughout his career, Andrew has been involved in projects spanning a diverse range of disciplines including: paleobiology, paleoclimatology, paleoceanography, geoarchaeology, marine and terrestrial ecology, atmospheric chemistry, applied environmental geochemistry, and hydrocarbon geochemistry. Andrew is equally at home in the lab developing and optimizing methods as he is helping clients find scientific solutions via stable isotope techniques and applications.
