Jonathan Bernier holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry and a master's degree in radioecology from Laval University. He also undertook doctoral studies in aquatic ecotoxicology. He has worked since 2011 at the Arvida Research and Development Center (CRDA) of Rio Tinto, Aluminum division, where he held a position as a research scientist in the field of air pollutant control and air quality for almost 10 years. Since 2021, he has acted as senior R&D advisor as well as manager of the research and development program in Environment and Climate Change at Arvida Research and Development Centre, a varied program including projects for the decarbonization of aluminum production processes and the use of phytotechnologies for the treatment of effluents as well as the valorization of by-products from aluminum production.
